P.S. ARTS and Old Navy Welcome Celebrities and Their Families
to A Creativity Street Fair Benefiting Arts Education
VENICE, CA (P.S. ARTS, Old Navy) - Hollywood stars
and their families get set to roll-up their sleeves
and create as P.S. ARTS and Old Navy transform Market
Street into the artistic fairground called "Express
Yourself 2003" on Sunday, November 2nd at 11:00AM.
The sixth annual event, aimed at supporting arts
programs in public schools, will host celebrities
and their families for an afternoon of self-expression
with a collage of activity booths including lessons
in giant origami, "architecting" towers
of clay and improvisational theater.
P.S. ARTS, a non-profit organization devoted to
restoring arts to public schools, has partnered for
the third year with Old Navy to present "Express
Yourself" with 100% of the proceeds from this
fundraiser benefiting P.S. ARTS in-school programs.
Last year's event raised $740,000.
"At P.S. ARTS, it is our goal to see the joy
of artistic expression experienced by every school-age
child. The arts are basic to education. They develop
creative intelligence that encourage communication
of ideas through image, sound and movement. Through
this event, we gain the opportunity to give to those
without- by restoring arts education to our schools," said
Sheila Bergman, Executive Director of P.S. ARTS.
"Express Yourself is our favorite event of
the year and we are thrilled to continue to be a
part of it," says Jonathan Finn, Director of
Public Relations at Old Navy. "Not only is it
such a fun day for all of the families that attend,
but the event also spotlights just how essential
creative expression is to all kids. We remain committed
to our partnership with P.S. ARTS and supporting
their important efforts in putting the arts back
in the classroom."
A favorite event among Hollywood families as well,
this year's confirmed guest list includes: Courteney
Cox & David Arquette, Lisa Kudrow, Calista Flockhart,
Marlee Matlin, Albert Brooks, Mimi Rogers, Janel
Moloney, Christa Lawrence, Jeff Garlin, Larry David,
Rita Wilson, Christine Lahti, Tommy Schlamme, Aaron
Sorkin, Bradley Whitford & Jane Kaczmarek, Shiva
Rose & Dylan McDermott, Camryn Manheim, Brooke
Shields & Chris Henchy, William H. Macy & Felicity
Huffman and Steven Weber.
Led by a team of volunteer artists and teachers,
this unique event will engage children and their
parents in more than 25 hands-on activities designed
to inspire young minds and spark imaginations. In
addition to the festive mood on the main street,
event sponsor Old Navy will create "Old Navy's
Funky Town," a groovy destination area where
guests can "Do the Hustle" from one activity
to the next including disco dance lessons led by
Hollywood choreographer, Clay Adkins, and tie-dying
tee shirts. Ray Rhodes of K-BIG 104's "Disco
Saturday Night" fame will also be on hand lending
his talent and tunes to the day.
