On Feb. 2, Walt Disney Records will continue the legacy of the
1970s album Free To Be You and Me by releasing
the new CD A World of Happiness. The album consists
of original songs, poems and skits
from artists ranging from singer Lisa Loeb ("Stay")
to actor George Wendt ("Cheers").
The CD's concept, described in a Walt Disney Records fact
sheet, is that, "The life lessons facing children
as they begin their socialization are the same
ones they will face throughout adulthood. Learning
how to respond to others with kindness and respect
is one of the most valuable attributes a young
person can cultivate, and all it takes is a little
encouragement."
The compilation promises to nourish young mind through stimulating
tracks featuring well-known celebrity personalities with positive
messages and a compelling musical score.
The CD's title song, performed by singer Lou Rawls ("Tobacco
Road"), teaches that happiness is attainable even
when you don’t get what you want. The source of true happiness,
according to the song, is being kind to others.
A percentage of proceeds from this project will benefit children's
charities designated by each artist.
