Planned Parenthood Brings Representatives from Around Nation, World to March for Womens' Lives; PPFA President Feldt to Speak

WASHINGTON, April 25 /U.S. Newswire/ -- Today hundreds of thousands of women, men, children and teens will gather from across the country and around the world to protest attacks on women's reproductive rights and speak up for America's pro-choice majority. A live Webcast will be available (with a one-to-two-hour delay) on http://www.plannedparenthood.org/march for those who are unable to attend the march itself.

"Today we will send our message loud and clear: reproductive rights are human rights, and they cannot be ignored," said Gloria Feldt, president of Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA).

Feldt will be speaking as part of a line-up of speakers and performers surrounding the march that also includes Julianne Moore, Madeline Albright, Carol Mosley-Braun and many more.

"Anti-choice extremists are not just against abortion -- they also oppose contraception and comprehensive, medically accurate sex education," said Feldt. "Meanwhile, extremist policies like the global gag rule are killing women in the poorest countries of the world. Planned Parenthood is leading the effort to protect our fundamental human right to control our own reproductive lives."

PPFA President Gloria Feldt will be available for interviews throughout the day. To arrange an interview, please contact Joel Lawson at 202-236-2316.

The March for Women's Lives is expected to draw a historic number of people and is led by seven organizing groups: PPFA, the American Civil Liberties Union, Black Women's Health Imperative, Feminist Majority, NARAL Pro-Choice America, the National Latina Institute for Reproductive Health, and the National Organization for Women. More than 100 international celebrities have come together to support the march, and many of them -- including Helen Hunt, LisaGay Hamilton, Bradley Whitford and Whoopi Goldberg -- will be marching as well.

Planned Parenthood Federation of America is the nation's largest and most trusted voluntary reproductive health organization. Planned Parenthood believes that everyone has the right to choose when or whether to have a child -- and that every child should be wanted and loved. Planned Parenthood affiliates operate nearly 900 health centers nationwide, providing medical services and sexuality education for millions of women, men, and teenagers each year.
